Weekend in Kerry

The Rose of Tralee Festival kicks off tonight with the Rose Ball. The festival which is celebrating 50 years is running until the 29th August this year. A wide and varied selection of events and activities have been organised for the festival week including street entertainment, the traditional Rose Parade, music concerts featuring Jack L, a tribute to Michael Jackson, Tommy Flemming, The Coronas, the Five Counties Ceili Band and Sharon Shannon - the list goes on. Stage two of the Tour of Ireland cycle race will finish in Killarney on Saturday 22nd August. Seven times Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong (Astana) and eight time Tour de France stage winner Mark Cavendish (Team Columbia-HTC) are participating in this year's event. Mary Black and Aslan are performing at the INEC.

The John Millington Synge photography exhibition continues in the Siamsa Tíre Gallery Tralee.
